While I get the attraction of these, I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't wait to at least see the final specs/first drives of the M2 first.

It's more of a collector's car. There was a very limited number of 1M's produced, they're like driving an E46 M3 and will only go up in price. I've been considering one for my long term garage and the price is already well above the MSRP even with ridiculous miles and "decent" condition.

I know the story, but I'm still not convinced that they will appreciate any more than they have, especially with the very similar M2 as an option. But anyone who bought one of these new won the car-buying lottery, for sure.

Yea, I agree. I'm uncertain of where they're going to go, it's a gamble but in some ways it'll be based on how good the M2 is, it's price and how many they produce. I think another major factor is how many of these aren't maintained or end up wrapped around a tree.

I'm definitely going to keep my eye on it. I passed on one that a friend who works for one of the biggest volume BMW dealerships tried to convince me to buy. I'm hoping not to regret it haha.
